Announcements for the Week of January 17, 2022
Hey, Panther Nation! I hope you enjoyed the three-day weekend and took a moment to reflect on the mission and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Safety | As students return, it is vital to remember that we must follow all mitigation strategies.
|
Masks | In recent weeks, we have handed out many reusable fabric masks at an alarming rate. We ask that all families ensure that their students have their masks before leaving for school. We need to ensure that we have extra masks available for students when it becomes soiled or damaged. Please also remember that ski masks, gaiters, and masks that have valves are not allowed.
Please talk to your student about wearing the mask all day except when they are actively eating. “All day” includes the bus stop, on the bus, and on the bus ramp. We appreciate your assistance! |
Course Selection Window Open | Attention all Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors: It is time to make plans for the 2022-23 school year. The course selection window for students and parents/guardians opens today, January 17th, and closes Friday, January 21st. The School Counseling team presented valuable information about course options, graduation requirements, etc. to students last week. Teachers have made recommendations for core classes as well as some elective courses. These recommendations will be visible in PowerSchool. We have some new electives offered for next year as well as our traditional offerings.
Please, closely review the offerings in all disciplines; there are some wonderful options! If you have not already done so it is now imperative that you and your student/s discuss teacher recommendations, class offerings, and make selections in PowerSchool. Later in the spring course verification sheets will be sent home with students. That will be a good opportunity to confirm your student’s course selections. The last day to request a change to the 2022-23 classes will be May 27, 2022; this is not a guarantee that the change request can be accommodated, only that the request can be considered. The School Counseling team is here to support your student, please contact us if you have any issues or questions.
