Announcements for the Week of May 9th

Good morning, Panther Nation! Happy Mother’s Day to all Panther mothers and motherly figures! Please read over the events and reminders for the week.

Safety First	HHS continues to follow all other layers of mitigation strategies listed below: If your student tested positive and is showing symptoms, please communicate the date of the positive test to the school via phone, Complete the Health Screening for Students prior to leaving for school in the morning, Maintain distance between others as much as possible during the school day. Follow our traffic safety plan Student drop off and pick up is in the Stadium Parking lot and students enter through Music Ramp doors Bus Riders enter through the Bus ramp doors In the event that your student must quarantine, please view the Flowchart for quarantining Last week we had 2 positive cases.
Testing Season is here!	It is SOL and Final Exam Testing Season! Listed below is pertinent information about all tests. SOL Testing Schedule May 10 – Students in World History I, World History II, World Geography, and VA US History are expected to attend and participate in this assessment. All other students who arrive on campus will report to one classroom until 12:55 as this is a secure testing environment and there is no movement. Students will complete assignments on Schoology for attendance purposes. All students will resume a normal schedule at 12:55 Check your @henricostudents.org email from Luiza Wood for specific information about testing May 17 – Math SOL May 25 – Science SOL Exam Schedule
National Nurse Day	We will recognize Nurse Lockhart and Nurse Tyree for their efforts! Please connect and thank them Wednesday and every day! Also, this is a perfect time to recognize Nurse Valerie Tyree as she was recently named the runner-up as the HCPS School Nurse of the Year! Congratulations!!!!!

Counseling Information	Attention all Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors, please connect with your school counselor to discuss courses for the 22-23 school year. Attendance	Tomorrow is our 147th day of school and attendance matters. If you missed 14 days of school so far, you are considered chronically absent. Once you are labeled Chronically Absent, parents may be referred to the court system for not sending their child to school. Please bring in a doctor’s note if you have any unexcused absences and remember to come to school every day! Also, if you complete work during a quarantine, contact the Main Office to update your attendance. HHS is currently at 29% absenteeism. Remember, if you do not feel well, please call the Main Office and stay home to prevent others from being sick. Thanks for your assistance!
Deliveries	This is a reminder that we are NOT accepting any food deliveries at HHS during the school day. This includes DoorDash, GrubHub, and Parent drop off. All students eat for free and we are unable to determine the safety of the contents of items dropped off for students. Thanks for understanding and working with us.
HHS Athletics	Spring Sport game tickets are on sale now for all Hermitage athletic events. Thanks for supporting our Panthers! To purchase tickets online: https://gofan.co/app/school/VA7824 (there is a $1 service fee for every ticket purchased). How-to guide: https://get.gofan.co/digital-ticketing-guide From this point on, we will not be pre-selling tickets accepting cash or check. All pre-sales will be through the Gofan site. Seniors	You are on the clock! It is finally 2022 and we are 37 days from graduation! Senior Parents – Is your student planning on attending college next year? If so you will need to fill out your FAFSA form! This is the federal application for student aid which is MONEY FOR COLLEGE! Mrs. Cox- our GRASP representative – will be in the school counseling office on Tuesdays to help you and your family submit this very important form. Appointments will be every 30 minutes, but please sign up for 2 slots if you will attend along with your student. Appointment times will be on Tuesdays from 9 am -2 pm. Upcoming Student Holiday	Friday, May 27, and Monday, May 30 are student holidays and school will be closed.
