|Testing Season||It’s testing season and we opened our testing window on April 26. To all Panthers, “If you are testing, you are expected to pass!” Also, each student who is testing will receive a separate message about the test, test date, and support strategies to prepare.
Each test day offers a secure testing environment from 9:00 – 1:00 daily. Students not testing will report to a study hall upon arrival, then report to their normal schedule at 1:00.
|Attendance Reminders||Every day counts! During April of 2022, our Panthers had a 45% absentee rate. Please make every effort to send your student to school daily! We are currently at 22.7% absenteeism and should be under 15%. Be sure that your Panther is at school every day this week!|
|Big Feet Meet||We are fortunate to host the Big Feet Meet for HCPS on Thursday, May 4 from 9:00 – 1:00. This will be a phenomenal event where we highlight the inclusivity of HHS!|

|Summer Trades||As we have done in the past, we will be offering our Summer Building Trades course for rising 10th and 11th-grade students, which will count towards 1 local general elective credit. The program will run from Monday, June 12 – Thursday, July 20 from 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM with Fridays off. Students will report to their closest designated high school and be transported directly to the job site. There will be multiple sites this year. They will have the unique opportunity to work in a setting that will introduce them to the area(s) of electricity, masonry, carpentry, HVAC, and network cabling/wiring.
The cost is FREE for this year. We are capping registration at 50 and students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Attached is a copy of the brochure that includes the registration process. Please reach out to me directly if you have any questions. The deadline is Friday, May 19 to allow our transportation department the time it needs to set up bus routes. Let me know if you have any questions

|Safety Protocols||According to the latest guidance from the Health Department and HCPS:
|Overdue Library Books||While we understand that we have the BEST Library in Virginia, we cannot maintain our circulation unless books are returned in a timely manner. There are currently 707 overdue books out right now and we would really like to get them back!
We do not charge overdue fees. If students are still reading a book, they should come in to renew their loan – we want them to keep reading!
|Yearbooks||Yearbooks are $55 and we will accept cash during lunch if you are interested.|
|FEV Tutoring/Panther Plus||We have two separate tutoring opportunities at HHS. Use this link to access the Panther Plus after-school tutoring program from 4:00 – 5:00 Monday – Thursday.

|MajorClarity||HCPS has partnered with MajorClarity, an online academic and career planning platform designed to help every student in grades 6-12 explore and discover future careers and courses that closely relate to their interests, personality, skills, and strengths and take ownership of their academic and career goals! Because parents/guardians play an integral role in their child’s academic and career planning process, students are encouraged to access MajorClarity at home with their family in addition to the various planned and scheduled opportunities to work in the platform at school. Parents/guardians also have the opportunity to access MajorClarity via their student’s account anytime, from any device, using Clever. Check out the MajorClarity Parent/Guardian Login Instructions for detailed directions!
