Herm Updates from Dr. Jackson

Good afternoon, Panther Nation, and welcome to the 24-25 School Year!  We are three days away from Freshman Orientation and less than a week before the first day of school!  Please see the important updates for this year:

  • HHS PTSO!  Please join our PTSO as we need ALL parents, students, and staff to ensure a successful school year.  Select the Signup Genius for Teacher Week!

  • Freshman/New Student Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 15 from 1:00-4:00.  A Parent Session will take place at 3:00 in the HHS Auditorium.

  • Open House will be held Thursday, August 15 from 4:00 - 7:00.  Parents and students will have the opportunity to obtain schedules, tour the building, meet teachers, and join clubs.  We hope to see you all on Thursday!

  • Fall Athletics Parent Meeting - We will host our Fall Athletics Parent Meeting this Friday evening in the auditorium at 6:00 pm. HHS Director of Student Activities, Mrs. Kozacek, will cover specifics about eligibility, boosters, sportsmanship, scheduling, drug and alcohol policy, communication, and health information as it relates to sports medicine. We hope to see parents and students there!

  • Student Identification Cards - All students will receive ID Cards during the first week of school.  These cards are to be visible at all times and used for riding the bus, breakfast/lunch, library, and access to athletic games. Please visit the HCPS Site for additional information.

  • Cell Phones - HCPS is moving toward a cell-phone-free learning environment beginning with the 24-25 school year.  Secondary school students may only access phones/smart watches during class exchanges and lunch. Please see the HHS Cell Phone Letter for additional information.

  • Parent/Student Handbook - Please view the handbook for specific HHS information, which includes updated information about the Student Calendar, Dress Code, and Good Standing.

  • First Day of School - We welcome all Panthers on Monday, August 19 as we start the 2024-25 school year!

We will discuss these items and much more in person on August 15 as well as during our weekly Community Forums.

Thanks for your continued support of HHS!  Stay safe, stay healthy, and Roll Pride!
