Schedule & Instruction

  • AIRR Time Change: To maximize instructional time for Winter SOL Testing, students will remain in 1st or 2nd Period until 11:00 AM daily. Select students will travel to specific locations from 10:30–11:00 AM. This change does not affect ACE Center students. Clubs will meet on designated dates in November/December.

  • Life Ready Learning Update: Starting Quarter 2, HHS will use a new Life Ready Learning reporting form to log real-world experiences (service, leadership, etc.). All previously approved hours still count toward the 80-hour Diploma Seal requirement.


Student Wellness & Support

  • Signs of Suicide (SOS) Lessons: IMPORTANT for Sophomores! SOS lessons will be presented to all sophomores on 11/18 and 11/19 during Health and PE 10. Parents must review the SOS STUDENT LETTER and PARENT OPT OUT LETTER (links below). Only return the signed Opt-Out letter IF you are opting your child out. Parents can visit https://sossignsofsuicide.org/parent for resources.

  • Substance Use Support: Hermitage is committed to student wellness. For confidential support and resources, contact Tiered Intervention School Counselor Ms. Annaleigh Broad (asbroad@henrico.k12.va.us or 804-866-2687). Henrico CARES provides free services including Care Solace and Hazel Telehealth (9-12).


Counseling & Senior Corner

  • Parent Needs Assessment: Please complete the Parent Needs Assessment (link below) to provide feedback on how School Counseling can best serve your student.

  • College Visits: Richard Bland (11/11), Hampden Sydney (11/18), VMI (11/19), and Virginia Union (11/20) are visiting this month. Students must get a pass from School Counseling to attend.

  • Seniors/FAFSA: The FAFSA will officially open October 1, 2025. Re-submit your transcript request. Mrs. Cox will meet with students/families on Mondays and Tuesdays to create FAFSA IDs. (Links for appointments below).

  • Scholarships: Seniors are encouraged to visit the HHS School Counseling site (link below) to access scholarship information and report any awards to Ms. Chapman, Ms. Ferrell, or Ms. Payne.

  • HHS Community Forum: Wednesday, November 12 at 7:00 PM (Microsoft Teams link/dial-in below).

  • HHS PTSO Spirit Night: Wednesday, November 12 from 5:00–9:00 PM at Canes (Virginia Center Commons). Mention the fundraiser or use code RCFUND96 for a 15% donation to the PTSO.

  • HHS Theatre Presents CLUE: Performances Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (November 13, 14, 15) at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available via GoFan.

  • HHS Band Booster Craft Fair: Join us for the 3rd Annual Craft Fair on Saturday, November 22 from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.
