Academic & Counseling Updates

  • AIRR Time Change: Students will remain in 1st or 2nd Period until 11:00 AM daily for Winter SOL prep. Select students will travel from 10:30–11:00 AM. ACE Center students are not impacted.

  • Life Ready Learning: Starting Quarter 2, HHS uses a new reporting form for logging real-world experiences (service, leadership, etc.). All previously approved hours count toward the 80-hour Diploma Seal requirement.

  • College Visits: Interested students must get a pass from School Counseling to attend this week's visits: Hampden-Sydney (11/18), VMI (11/19), and Virginia Union (11/20).

  • Seniors: Re-submit your transcript request. Mrs. Cox is available Mondays and Tuesdays to help create FAFSA IDs. The FAFSA opens for applications on October 1, 2025.

  • Scholarships: Visit the HHS School Counseling site and report all scholarship awards to Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Ferrell, or Ms. Payne.

  • Parent Feedback: Complete the Parent Needs Assessment to share your thoughts on School Counseling services.

Important Reminders

  • SOS Lessons (Sophomores): Parents must review the program details. Only return the OPT OUT letter to the Health/PE 10 teacher IF you do not want your child to participate on 11/18 or 11/19. Online parent resources are available.

  • HHS Community Forum: Join the virtual meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7:00 PM.
