Good morning, Panthers!

Here are the concise updates and reminders for the week of November 24–28.

School Schedule & Holiday

  • Monday, 11/24: Day 1 (Periods 1, 3, 5, 7).

  • Tuesday, 11/25: Day 2.

  • Thanksgiving Holiday: School is CLOSED Wednesday, November 26, through Friday, November 28. School reopens Monday, December 1.

Athletics & School Pride

  • Regional Football Championship: The Varsity Panthers play for the Regional Championship on Friday, November 28, at 2:30 PM.

  • Location: Highland Springs High School.

  • Tickets: Available on GoFan. Roll Pride!

Academic & Learning Updates

  • Life Ready Learning: Starting Quarter 2, HHS is using a new reporting form to log a wider range of real-world experiences (community service, leadership, etc.).

    • All previously approved hours still count toward the 80-hour Diploma Seal requirement.

  • Summer Program: Radford University is hosting a weeklong Women in STEM Summer Bridge (July 12–17). See the QR code/flyer for details.

Counseling & Senior Corner

  • Transcript Request: Seniors, remember to re-submit your request for a transcript.

  • FAFSA Help: Mrs. Cox is available on Mondays and Tuesdays to help students and families create FAFSA IDs. (The FAFSA officially opens for applications on October 1, 2025).

  • Scholarships: Visit the HHS School Counseling site for information and report all scholarship awards to Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Ferrell, or Ms. Payne as soon as possible.

  • Parent Needs Assessment: Please complete the Parent Needs Assessment to provide feedback on School Counseling services.

Free Henrico CARES Resources Available:

  • Care Solace: 24-hour multilingual team connecting families with mental health and substance use providers.

  • Hazel Telehealth: Virtual healthcare for students (grades 9-12), including mental health support.

  • Same Day Access: Provides immediate help for urgent substance use intervention.
